Former market operators turned consultants and operators

Roberta Cosentino
  • As a first-generation Italian-American, co-founder Roberta Cosentino’s food story begins with daily family meals and the end of summers marked by tomato canning. While earning her degree in Anthropology and Sociology, Roberta lived for several months with soybean farmers in rural Argentina. There she learned how industrial food production impacts local culture and local food systems. She worked as a Program Evaluator and Researcher in government and non-profit before making her way to Chester County, PA. Following her passion for food, Roberta spent seven years growing and managing a Mobile Market program and eventually lead a department of several healthy food access programs. Roberta serves on the Leadership Committee of the Mobile Market Coalition and is Chair of the Research Committee. She has personally visited several mobile market operations throughout the country and has helped to develop best practices in mobile market operations. Roberta lives in Coatesville, PA and also works in local government, continuing to advocate for her community.

  • Co-founder Max Kulp, while not a grower, came from a farming family and developed a strong connection to local food early in life. After completing two years of Americorps service, living on SNAP benefits, Max returned to graduate school to study Sustainable Development. During which he interned at an oyster aquaculture farm where he was first introduced to mobile programming via an aquarium on wheels and learning first hand how to build a sustainable food system from the producers through to the end consumer. Max has spent seven years with two local food bank’s managing mobile food pantries and markets. Experienced in operationalizing food access programs in high need areas, Max led and trained a diverse team of staff and volunteers while delivering meaningful community engagement and food access advocacy. Max lives in Pottstown, PA and manages the local farmers market in his hometown while continuing to find food access solutions.
